Where to snorkel
Official tourism information highlights snorkeling around El Puertito's clear natural pools. Visibility and safety are never guaranteed: wind, swell and tide can change between booking and arrival. Stay within your ability, keep clear of boat movements and avoid entering unfamiliar water alone.
If snorkeling is the main reason for the day, compare an organised speedboat or catamaran trip with the independent ferry. A guided product may include equipment and a planned water stop; the ferry gives more freedom but leaves equipment and decisions to you.
How to combine beach and walking
With a short visit, choose one bathing area. With around three hours, the southern itinerary can connect La Concha, the saltpans and El Puertito without attempting the full island circuit. Keep dry clothes, valuables and the ferry voucher protected from spray.
Simple water-safety rules
- Check conditions again on the day; a sheltered-looking bay is not a guarantee.
- Use sun protection and drink water even if you spend most of the visit swimming.
- Wear secure footwear around volcanic rock.
- Do not stand on, collect or disturb marine life.
- Leave the water with enough time to dry, pack and reach your return boat.
The Lobos packing checklist covers a beach day and a walking day separately.
