The five essential stops
- Playa de la Concha: a sheltered sandy bay about ten minutes from the landing jetty.
- Salinas del Marrajo: historic saltpans reached by a short deviation from the main path.
- Martiño lighthouse: the northern landmark and the far point of the circular walk.
- El Puertito: white fishing houses, volcanic rock and natural pools near the jetty.
- The volcanic landscape: hornitos, salt marsh vegetation and views across the Bocayna strait.
Choose a route by time on the island
| Time ashore | Realistic focus |
|---|---|
| About 2 hours | La Concha or El Puertito, not the full circuit. |
| About 3 hours | Follow the three-hour route and choose one longer stop. |
| 4+ hours | Consider the marked circuit plus a short swim, while keeping return time in reserve. |
The official tourism route is listed as 7.4 km, two hours and low difficulty. That estimate is walking time, not a promise that photography, swimming and lunch will fit inside the same two hours.
Walk first or swim first?
On a warm, calm day, walking early and finishing at La Concha avoids doing the longest section after a swim. If your main goal is the water, go straight to the beach or El Puertito and treat the walk as optional. Check the wind and sea guide and match the plan to the return on your own ticket.
Protect the place you came to see
Stay on signed paths, carry all waste back, do not feed wildlife and do not build stone towers. The natural-park guidance also asks visitors not to remove stones or plants. Bring enough water and suitable footwear; the complete Lobos packing list covers the practical details.
